MIRI CITY BIKE WEEK 2010 - The Big Bikes

quite some numbers of big bikes on display but due to lacked of big displacement bikes in Sarawak, most of the big bikes displayed are from Brunei...but still good effort from the Sarawak builder....

These two adventure bikes are in Retroman & my X'Mas list...any kindhearted gifts will be much appreciate....2nd hand will do also.

really didn't expect the Miri local scoots builder did such a good job to their scoots, although still can't compete with other scoot crazed country but for a small oil town in Borneo Island thery deserve a round of applause...

MIRI CITY BIKE WEEK 2010 - The Journey

For the past few days, some biker friends kept asking me which day will i go to the Miri Bike Week and where will i stay for the night, obviously this is the talk of the week, everyone are getting ready to attain this bike week, so we finally do it on Saturday morning, we hit the road around mid morning, cos i just don't fancy to ride with sleep mode on, it makes me feel grouchy....

a visit to friend's house for toilet before our veteran biker heading home bake to Brunei....an adult diaper will be good ideal for the next long ride...

Heavy rain ahead, took a coffee stop at Sungai Liang roadside Kueh Tiaw Stall...but but after cups of hot coffee, the rain doesn't looks like its going to stop, so all of us just have to continue the rest of the journey as a Storm Rider...with "CRUMBLE NUTS", but an experienced like me, i will always have my rain suit with me for long ride...so i'm the only one with Healthy NUTS....

hundreds of bikes already here when we arrived, but surprisingly majority are Brunei registered bikes...

as usual in Asia all bike show must have a lot of Moped (Kapchai) on display....from Indonesia all the way to Japan, just can't do without it...

local Bike Clubs & Bike Builders took part & exhibited / selling their stuff like T-shirt & badges...RM$35 for a T-shirt is pretty reasonable but in term of quality wise..........well can't complaint with this price...

the most visited booth - Food Stall, where the veteran bikers hanged out the most....and also novice bikers as well....

Bar Hog Resurrection

I posted about my friend's Bar Hog is Dead few months back due to not passing the technical inspection, but....the bike has come alive today...it's alive even with a new paint job of Zebra & Flame and a new owner...apparently the dealer has finally get this bike approved by the JPD, too bad the owner is not my friend, or else i can have a spin with this China Bar Hog....

An Unexpected Visitor

Yesterday morning while warming up my bike, an unexpected visitor turn-out at the door step...A gentleman form Vancouver, Canada. At first i thought he need help for direction, but turn out he is a bike builder on holiday who just want to say hi to me cos i'm a fellow biker who share the same interest as him...but after reading his name card Mr. Danny Lim, i realize i'm no mach to this gentleman....he is way out off my league..

He ain't no normal bike builder, he is a well-known vintage Harley bike builder / restorer in Vancouver Canada...from our short conversation i understand he was originally from Brunei & migrated to Canada backed in the 70's, now he own a Vintage Harley motorcycle shop call GYPSY MOTORCYCLES, specialist in building or restore old Harley Davidson motorcycle before 74' models, after our conversation i offer to bring him around to understand our local motorcycle culture & development, so i'm looking forward to receive his call.....

out of boredom bought a HD Tire Lettering Pen to give my tire a touch of color, did it under low visibility, can't really see how it looks, hope it will turn out good....

Carver One

recently came across people talking about saving energy on Earth Hour & not using plastic shopping bags on the Earth Day to save our planet, but to my opinion the fossil fuel we burned & carbon dioxide that we emitted during our daily commuting are the worse, as a biker i always consider motorcycle are one of the way to conserve energy & emit less carbon into the air.

But most people are reluctant to ride motorcycle either due to the safety issue or the natural elements such as raining or hot sunny day...that show people still can't step-out of their comfort zone of using cars as transport although everyone knows that it's a wasted of energy and space ( average only 1.5 person per car)...so what's the ideal transportation of future..?

" Carver One" are one of the answer.

A three wheels motorcycle with tilting cabin which can accommodate 2 persons, low fuel consumption, less pollution, take up less space yet can travel in comfort and carry good numbers of cargo...this is the alternative that combined the best of motorcycle & cars....wish we can get this in the near future, i really don't mind to trade this with my SUV....

Saturday Easy Ride

been neglected my Street Rat Bobber bike for some times, so brought it out for a weekend run, it's nice to ride with small bike once a while, the feel is totally different from big displacement bikes, it's lighter, more agile and more relax.....but definitely not on high-way, small displacement bike tend to suffered a lot on this kind of road.....as you can hear in the clip that my bike is screaming its 125cc heart out.....
