Dirt Bikes Adventure to Tawau, Sabah Malaysia

after months of talks & preparation, we are heading for another road trip to Tawau, Sabah Malaysia via the infamous Kalabakan Logging road where we previously suffered a lot with our street bikes, but this time we brought along our dirt bikes.

due to the low on-road speed of our dirt bikes we hit the road before sun-rise to cover the 700kms distance, and hope to get out of the logging road before sun-set, cos its too scary to ride in the dark jungle road...

as usual lots of passport stamping and river crossing....

looks like a good day to ride, everyone seems to enjoying themselves.....till

a broken chain & cracked housing at 2000 feet, luckily is downhill from this point onward.....

get the crippled bike fix at a tiny local bike repair shop....
the Last Fueling Station before entering the off-road section of the trip " The Kalabakan Express Way" 100 plus kms of mud, sand , gravels and huge logging trucks..

hundreds kms of Fun & Trills at the logging road to Kelabakan...till we see whats ahead of us....

stop to evaluated the obstacle, can't afford to make any stupid move and get ourselves stuck in the middle of the jungle...

approaching the Maliau Basin the "Lost World"...
so far haven't see any dinosaurs around...
the ONLY fuel that we can get after get out of the logging road at Kelabakan Town..,can't be chossy if we have another 100 km to reach Tawau....

is good to have buddies who know how to fix a wheel....
with good team works we over come this obstacle in no time..
get our bikes clean and fix at the local bikeshop for the return trip via the main road, cos after 2 nights of non-stop raining we assume the off-road route might not be a good idea...

after dinner do a quick visit to the usual hang-out place of Tawau bikers - "Tawau Kopitiam"

hold-up by several massive floods at Lahad Datu while we are heading to Kota Kinabalu..

as usual when traveling in group, there's always lots of breaks for Cigi and Drinks..

a photo session at the infamous "Graffiti Wall" along the mountainous road from Telupid to Ranau..

Finally reached home before dark, and a group photo to marked our achievement of covering 1500+kms of tarmac, sand, mud, gravel and floods....more beers for celebration...
